Tim Montgomery - athlete

Tim Montgomery, former American athlete and 100m record holder, was arrested on April 30, 2008, after being indicted on a federal heroin distribution charge. After pleading guilty in July, he was sentenced to five years in prison.1

The charges revolved around an alleged sale of 100 grams of heroin to a police informant.

Montgomery was sentenced to four years in prison in a separate case involving $5 million in check fraud. Montgomery, who pleaded guilty in the case, admitted he worked with former coach, Olympic champion Steve Riddick to cash $1.7 million in stolen and counterfeit checks. His former partner, athlete Marion Jones was also involved in the scam.
